To make a slightly larger shaped corrugated pipe, first roll the stainless steel plate into a cylindrical shape and weld the interface. Insert the cylinder into the corrugated pipe mold and complete the production of the formed corrugated pipe through hydraulic pressure.
In ultra-high vacuum systems, corrugated pipes connecting molecular pumps and mechanical pumps often use formed corrugated pipes with NW flanges at both ends.
The advantages of forming corrugated pipes are simple production and low cost. The disadvantage is insufficient elasticity and flexibility. To make up for the shortage of formed corrugated pipes, welded corrugated pipes are used.
Welded corrugated hose is a thin-walled folded hose made by alternately welding circular stainless steel sheets with inner and outer diameters (Figure 2). The welding method is plasma welding, which has great flexibility and is an indispensable component in the connection of ultra-high vacuum systems and various motion inductors. Reasonable selection of the natural length of the corrugated pipe can achieve a service life of over hundreds of thousands of times.
